Excavations at Garway Hill - photo by Chris Atkinson

As part of the Local Heritage Initiative project exploring the history and archaeology at Garway Hill in partnership with Garway Hill Commoners Association, three trenches were excavated in the area of the main settlement enclosure in order to try and trace its development. One of the trenches excavated produced Middle Iron Age pottery that dates occupation of the enclosure to the final centuries BC. Another trench revealed at least one clay-floored hut, also dated by pottery to the Iron Age.
