Herefordshire SMR

www.smr.herefordshire.gov.uk   This website, the database holds information on a wide range of sites. For serious research the sources relating to the sites are the most important. Though light on detail it is important because it holds the complete picture, archaeology sites as well as modern sites. Holds aerial photographs and an on line field name and landowner dbase.

Hereford Record Office

Hereford Cathedral Library www.herefordcathedral.org/library.asp - Archives of four manors, Canon Pyon, Norton Canon, Woolhope and Preston on Wye and 27 parishes in Herefordshire.   • the MS of further early published Herefordshire histories by Blount, Parry, Williams, Webb, Bird and Hill,
  • John Scarlett Davies letters,
  • Guild minutes of the Mercers and Haberdashers Co.s in Hereford (17th-18th century),
  • MSs in the Pilley Collection going back to the 13th century,
  • some Scudamore MSs,
  • about 200 antiquarian books.

Woolhope Club Transactions

www.woolhopeclub.org.uk Local history journal held in all the main libaries, over 100 volumes beginning 1851, a huge range of topics are covered and you will find that whatever you are researching someone before you has done so too. There are index volumes.

Photographic Collection: The National Monuments Record
